Dutch USV Technologies was born from a sailing voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.

The story

Dutch USV Technologies was born from a sailing voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. Our founder knows first-hand what waves, current and salt do to a vessel, and to the people on board.

That experience taught us: the sea is unpredictable. Any system that operates on the water has to withstand it. Most autonomous vessels are designed from an office. We design from the sea.

We believe in mass over premium. The war in Ukraine proved that cheap drones are more effective than expensive missiles. The same logic applies on the water: five affordable drones cover more than one expensive system.

That's what we're going for: autonomy on the water not reserved for the few with the biggest budget, but within reach of every rescue station, every port and every workboat. We want to set that standard, from the Netherlands, for the whole world.

Ultimately we want a permanent fleet of unmanned boats on the North Sea, moving with the task of the moment: surveillance, rescue, transport or maintenance. That can't be done in one step. So we start with the brain.

Vision

A network of around 50 autonomous sea drones on the North Sea, with a human in the loop. Permanently present and moving with the task of the moment: surveillance, rescue, inspection, transport or maintenance.

Our route

In three phases to a network on the North Sea

No one can put fifty boats out at sea in one go. So we build step by step, with the brain as the foundation.

  1. Phase 1Now

    The best brain

    We connect existing boats to our autonomy brain and prove the autonomy on the water, together with pilot partners. No new fleet needed: we start with the vessels that are already there.

  2. Phase 2Next step

    Our own sea drones

    With what we learn on the water, we develop our own unmanned vessels, designed around the brain. Affordable and at scale, following mass over premium.

  3. Phase 3The goal on the horizon

    A network of 50 sea drones

    A permanent network of around 50 unmanned sea drones on the North Sea, run by a handful of operators in the loop. It moves with the task of the moment: border surveillance, drone detection, search & rescue, transport and maintenance.
