Frequently asked questions about the autonomy brain
- What kind of vessels does the autonomy brain fit?
- Almost any vessel, from a RIB and a workboat to a small coaster. The brain is a module, not a boat: we drive the rudder and engine through standard interfaces, whether the propulsion is diesel, electric, hybrid or waterjet. Retrofit into an existing boat and installation in a new build are both possible.
- Which sensors does the system need?
- Camera (optical and infrared), radar, sonar and AIS/GPS. You choose which sensors the mission needs; the brain merges the signals into one reliable picture through sensor fusion. Quay inspection leans on sonar, for example, while surveillance leans on radar and infrared.
- Why Level 2 and not fully autonomous?
- At Level 2 the system does the heavy computation and flags dangers while the operator keeps command. Higher levels bring legal and safety risks that are not yet mature on the open sea. The same brain can grow towards higher levels later without replacing the boat.
- Am I locked into your system?
- No. The brain works with a standard API and standard connectors. Your own sensors, your own platform and your own data stay yours, so there is no vendor lock-in.
